commands all living creatures to praise the Lord – Psalm 150:6 (Let everything that hath breath praise
the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.)
ในภาษาฮีบรูคําหนึ่งสําหรับคําว่า “สรรเสริญ” คือ yadah (ญดา) หมายความว่า “สรรเสริญ ขอบพระคุณหรือสารภาพ” One
Hebrew word for “praise” is yadah, meaning “praise, give thanks, or confess.”
คําที่สองมักแปลคําว่า “สรรเสริญ” ในพระคัมภีร์พันธสัญญาเดิมคือ zamar (ซาคาร์) “ร้องเพลงสรรเสริญ” A second word
often translated “praise” in the Old Testament is zamar, “sing praise.”
คําที่สามแปลคําว่า “สรรเสริญ” คือ halal (ฮาลาล) (รากคําศัพท์ของคําว่า ฮาเลลูยา) หมายถึง “การสรรเสริญเกียรติยศหรือการยก
ย่อง” A third word translated “praise” is halal (the root of hallelujah), meaning “to praise, honor, or
commend.”
ทั้งสามคํานี้ประกอบไปด้วยความคิดในการขอบพระคุณและถวายเกียติแก่ผู้ที่สมควรได้รับการสรรเสริญ All three terms contain
the idea of giving thanks and honor to one who is worthy of praise. และแน่นอนนั่นคือพระเจ้าของเรา And of
course that’s our God.
ในการสรรเสริญพระเจ้า นอกจากคําว่า “Praise the Lord” และ “Hallelujah” แล้ว ในบางครั้งจะเห็นคําว่า “Hosanna” อีก
ด้วย In praising the Lord, besides “Praise the Lord” and “Hallelujah”, the word “Hosanna” is sometimes
seen.
Hosanna เป็นคํากรีก “โฮซานนา” จึงมีที่มาจากคําฮีบรูในเพลงสดุดีว่า “โฮซีอาห์ นาห์” ซึ่งแปลว่า “ขอทรงช่วย. ..ให้รอดเถิด”
Hosanna is the Greek word “hosanna,” so it comes from the Hebrew word in the psalm “Hosiah nah,”
which means “salvation.” สดุดี 118:25 (ข้าแต่พระเจ้า ขอทรงช่วยข้าพระองค์ให้รอดเถิด ข้าแต่พระเจ้า ขอประทานความสําเร็จแก่ข้า
พระองค์ ทั้งหลายเถิด) Psalm 118:25 (Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now
prosperity.) ในที่นี้เราจะพบความเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้นกับคํานี้ คือ ความหมายดั้งเดิมนั้นเป็นคําอธิษฐานทูลขอการช่วยกู้ Here we will
find a change that has occurred with this word: the original meaning is a prayer for deliverance. แต่ต่อมา
ในสมัยพระเยซู คํานี้กลับเป็นคําโห่ร้องแสดงความยินดีต้อนรับ ดังนั้นคําว่า“โฮซาันนา” ที่ใช้ในปัจจุบัน หมายถึง “สรรเสริญ (พระเจ้า)” But
later in the reign of Jesus Instead, this was a welcome cry. Therefore, the word “hosanna” in use
today means “praise (God)”.
